Q: A non-Christian friend asked me about my Christian beliefs the other day and I freaked! How can I figure out what to say to someone seeking Christ?
A: Don't panic--God will give you the words to say (Luke 12:11-12). Trust God to do what He said He would do for you.
Don't be too hard and heavy. Most non-Christians are turned off when your evangelizing becomes pushy or insistent. Remember--it is not your job to convince your friend to believe. It is God's job--His Holy Spirit speaks to and convicts people's hearts.
Memorize the 4 Spiritual Laws (http://www.greatcom.org/english/four.htm) or the Romans Road (http://contenderministries.org/romanroad.php) just to have a quickie reference in your head. But be aware that you may not go through all the steps because your friend might not be interested in hearing about how to be saved--she might only want to know more about God or "your religion." Just answer her questions and pray for God to be leading your friend to Himself.
You don't need to "know everything." In John 12:32, Jesus says, "I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto Me." The verse does NOT say that you will give a brilliant oratory and convince your friend of the existence of God, sin and Jesus Christ. It says that if we lift Jesus up in our words and actions, Jesus will draw our friends to Himself. So be honest--tell your friend about your relationship with God, your own struggles and trials. Show the joy of your faith, rather than trying to wow the person with eloquent or convincing words.
Pray for your friend. Since it's God moving in her heart, pray for God to continue to nudge her. Pray for God to help you to be a good witness to her. Pray for the opportunity to be used.
If you think--and not even very hard--I'm sure you know at least one non-Christian God has put into your life. Maybe He wants you to bring His good news to that friend! Pray about God's will, being willing to be used if He asks it of you!
