Real Life Q&A with Camy Tang

September 2004

Q: What if I've already had sex? I can't become a virgin again, can I?

A: You can't become a physical virgin, but you can become a spiritual virgin again. Your repentance--true, heartfelt, honest repentance--is what makes you pure and whole again. There will still be things that haunt you--consequences of sin--but don't confuse that with the total cleansing from Jesus' blood. You are completely forgiven, as if it never happened.

It's all a matter of making a decision, a sacred vow. It's committing yourself to staying pure until your wedding night. Not that it'll be EASY to remain chaste. In fact, it's often doubly hard. But Ephesians 3:16-21 talks about God strengthening us with power. That power is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. Yeah, that kind of power. Divine, holy, blow-your-socks-off power. That power can strengthen you against temptation, to remain firm in your desire to be pure.

How do you get that power? Through His Holy Spirit inside you. Is your heart a willing vessel for God's Spirit? Are you humbled and determined to follow Him? That's all He needs to give you that kind of Let's-make-a-man-out-of-dirt power. He can make a new you out of the garbage of the old you, and make you spiritually whole, spiritually pure.

It truly is possible to regain your chastity. Just remember to rely on God to help you, and not your own strength against temptations.
