God is not like the tooth-fairy

Has anyone ever told you that your faith in God is a delusion?

There are those in this world (we usually call them atheists) that try to convince Christians that their belief in God is much like a childhood belief in Santa or the Tooth Fairy. "You'll outgrow it someday," they say. "When you become a mature adult."

The sad thing is, some Christians do walk away from their faith. They allow the lies they hear every day to gradually chip away at their once-firm belief in God, Jesus, and the resurrection until, one day, it CRACKS. And then they say to themselves, "I've matured. I don't need to believe in childish things like the Tooth Fairy, Santa or God."

But God is not like the Tooth Fairy. He is not some childhood fancy that's fun to pretend is real. He IS real. There is evidence of God everywhere you turn. As it says in Romans 1:20:

"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." (NIV)

How will you grow? Will your faith grow with you as you mature into an adult? Or will you let the world chip away at it until you give in?

I challenge you to make every effort to grow as a Christian. Don't let your love for God grow cold. Stand firm in your faith. As it says in Matthew 24:12&13: "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved."

Remember, God is not like the Tooth Fairy. He is as sure as the air we breathe.
