Devotional: No Rumors by Jolene Duggan

"Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body." -Ephesians 4:25

This verse says to put off every falsehood, for we are all one body. God gave us a church for a reason--fellowship! Also, to uphold one another in our Christian walks. I know I need those people to come up behind me, hold my arms up when they're falling down, and to keep me accountable. And I have that at my Church.

God doesn't want the church to be nothing more than a breeding house for rumors and lies. You are still participating in the rumor if you just hear it. Stay away from people who tell them. If they're about to tell you a rumor, just say "I really don't want to participate in this. I don't want to be held accountable to God for it." I've done that before!

Can't tell if it's a rumor or not? If it's saying something about someone else that could hurt them in any way, shape, or form, it's most likely a rumor. You know right from wrong, you know what a rumor is. Steer clear of them!

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Help me to steer clear of rumors and lies, and be an active member of my church body. Give me strength to minister to others what I've learned from your word.

In Jesus name,

Amen
