I hear it all the time:
“Sarah, I hate how you have such big boobs.”
Okay, can my girlfriends GET any more “in-my-face?”
Well, here’s what I say to all you “smaller” girls who hate my breast size:
I hate it, too.
I don’t know about you, but I’m what my mom would call “well-endowed.” I wear…gulp…a size D cup, and since I’m not exactly overweight elsewhere, they, um, stand out. Now, I’m not trying to complain, but whenever I can’t get a guy to look me directly in the eye because his gaze is busy elsewhere, I have to wonder why God gave me a coveted little thing called CLEAVAGE.
I also have to wonder why so many girls want bigger chests. I know there are lots and LOTS of reasons why we hate our bodies: our thighs are too big, our arms are too pudgy, our eyes are too close together, our toes are too crooked. I’ve heard them all. I’ve also thought them all about myself. But, honestly, I think one of the biggest problems teen girls have today is, well, their breast size.
I just don’t get it. Personally, I’d love to drop down to a size B. Know why?
1) I meet WAY too many perverted guys
2) Big boobs generally equal slightly larger hips and arms
3) THEY HURT. I can’t go jogging without wearing at least two sports bras…enough said.
So I want to know WHY everyone wants big boobs.
HERE’S WHAT I’VE COME TO BELIEVE
You want the big chests so you can get the guy. It’s obvious that, well, big boobs sell. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been checked out by guys at the mall, school, or even church.
But, here’s the thing: big boobs attract the WRONG kind of guy - the guy who really just likes your bra size, not your heart size. Why would you want some sex-hungry guy paying attention to you? It makes me feel so dirty.
Now, some girls who have large breasts love it, because they can flaunt their “gift” by wearing not-so-modest clothes. They WANT the guys to notice them. Again, that’s just going to attract the wrong guy, and Christian women should be out to find Mr. Right, not Mr. “I-Lust-You”-Instead-Of-“I-Love-You.”
So, to all you girls who have big boobs: take it for the blessing it is. God gave us large chests, so we should be proud, but we should NOT flaunt them around for all to, well, lust over.
To those of you who are DESPERATELY longing to be bigger than a size A: your size is ALSO a blessing. You don’t have to deal with the problems big-chested girls go through. And your man will undoubtedly love your heart.
God wants us to be thankful for whatever body parts He’s given us. See the good in your breast size. It’s there.
