Devotional: Back On Your Feet by Rebecca Gomez

Suggested scripture reading: Psalm 73: 21-28

Psalm 73: 26, "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

My son, whom I affectionately refer to as Tumble Bumble, had to get stitches in his forehead less than two weeks after taking his first steps. Since then, his little head has always had a bump, scrape, or bruise. He falls and hits his head more than my other two children combined. But like most toddlers, he recovers quickly and is soon on his feet once again.

We can learn a lot by watching toddlers. Like Christians, they stumble and fall, some of them more often than others. But they are determined. They don't let those little failures get them down for long. That's how we need to be. It is in our nature to fail. But rather than letting our failures discourage us, they should make us even more determined to succeed.

Prayer: Lord, help us to be like toddlers and not give up when we fail. Give us the strength and determination to get back on our feet and continue to follow you.
