"I'm stupid..I've made too many mistakes...I'm not good enough for God." The seventeen-year-old girl blurted out these phrases in rapid succession through her tears. I could hardly keep up. But there was really only one thing to say.
"You don't have to be good enough for God. He loves you just as you are."
It's true. Many people make the mistake of thinking they somehow have to prepare themselves before they give their lives to Jesus. They believe they need to straighten their lives out before God will see them as a worthy follower.
But they couldn't be more wrong. For one thing, we could never, ever make ourselves "good enough." The Bible says that "all our righteous acts are like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6).
And another thing, the most important thing: It's the blood of Jesus that washes us clean, but we have to accept Him first! "...and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
So, don't wait until you are "good enough." You are already good enough for Jesus!
