It is that time of year again. Is your dry skin threatening to drive you crazy? Here are some tips to help relieve and prevent irritating dry skin issues.
1. As tempting as it may be, avoid hot showers. Take short showers in warm, not hot, water. Use a moisturizing body wash.
2. Body lotion. Right after showering smooth in a nice simple moisturizer such as Lubriderm or Aveno. Don't forget to moisturize your face too! Use a facial moisturizer with sunscreen to protect your face, even in the colder months.
3. For tough spots such as heels and elbows, try using petroleum jelly (Vaseline) or a thick dry skin cream (Eucerin or generic equivalent) at night. This will also work wonders on dry, cracked skin on your hands.
4. Your lips need special treatment too. Use something natural, without alcohol, for your lips. I like to use Vaseline or a lip balm made from bee's wax (makes a great gift, by the way).
5. And of course, drink plenty of water. You can't expect to have smooth, dry skin if you are dehydrated!
